Ingredients:
- 1 package of chocolate chip cookie dough (or make your own favourite cookie dough from scratch)
- 1 bag of mini pretzel sticks
- 1 bag of candy eyes
- Melted chocolate (for sticking the eyes)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cookies:
- Preheat your oven according to the cookie dough package instructions or your homemade recipe.
- Roll the cookie dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a spoon.
- Spider Legs:
- Break the mini pretzel sticks in half. As the cookies are baking, they will spread, so you’ll need to insert the pretzel sticks before they’re fully set.
- About halfway through the baking time, pull out the cookies and gently press 3 pretzel stick halves on each side of the cookie to resemble spider legs. Be careful, as the cookies will be hot!
- Return the cookies to the oven and finish baking according to the package or recipe instructions.
- Add the Eyes:
- Once the cookies are fully baked and slightly cooled, use a dab of melted chocolate to stick two candy eyes onto each cookie, placing them close together so they look like spider eyes.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a cooling rack. The melted chocolate should set and hold the eyes in place.
The combination of sweet cookies with the salty pretzel legs makes for a delicious treat. The spider design is sure to be a hit with kids, and they’ll have a blast helping to assemble their eight-legged treats. Enjoy your spooky spider cookies!
